Contamination of Some fish to mercury


A faculty member of Medical Sciences in Shahid Beheshti University warned: "Iran's seas fish should be used with caution due to pollution with heavy metals". Doctor Nasser Kalantari in an interview with reporter of "Salamat News" website, by referring to social and environmental misconduct of many Iranians said: "Unfortunately, dangerous toxins and metals enter to sea's water due to lack of proper cultural practices, and also due to the influx of industrial waste from factories to sea water". He added: "Given that in fish's oil is a good place to save the heavy metals, so entrance of these waste products which in some cases are contain the mercury can be very dangerous for human health". This nutritionist continued: "by considering all of these, it is recommend that regional fish should not be used more than twice a week due to the heavy metals and mercury and it is not recommended to pregnant women during pregnancy ". He said: "To keep the body's healthy as well as beneficial use of fish's many benefits for human health, I recommend as a nutrition expert that people use of all kinds of fish and seafood that are lower stored in mercury such free fish and fatty fish ".
